Train Tickets booked through Citibank Credit Cards cancelled

Passengers, who had reserved railway tickets using Citibank credit cards through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), are facing problems with the Corporation cancelling their reservation due to non-receipt of payments from the bank. To avoid inconvenience to these passengers, the Corporation is now sending e-mails, asking them to ensure payment of fare either by cheque or demand draft to revalidate their reservation.

A Corporation official told The Hindu that trouble started a few weeks ago, when transfer of funds from the bank to the corporation was not forthcoming. With letters to the bank, asking it to credit the money failed to evoke a response, the Corporation cancelled the reservations.
Hundreds of passengers throughout the country were put to hardship when their names did not figure in the reservation charts of trains that left on August 31. The corporation has also withdrawn the payment option for ticket booking through Citibank cards, the official said.

However, passenger reservation centres of Southern Railway are accepting Citibank cards though they, too, are facing problems with funds transfer. A zonal official said this had been brought to the notice of bank officials, who had assured the Railways that the funds would be transferred soon.

Bank officials said they had some problems in transferring funds throughout the world and that it would be set right soon.
